Job Purpose and Primary Objectives:
Benchmark Space Systems, a leader in small satellite propulsion systems and in-space mobility services, is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Operations Support Specialist to join our Operations team.
This role will work closely with the operations and program teams to coordinate critical activities across multiple functions ranging from supply chain, quality, production, facilities, general operations and program management. Specifically, this role will support the execution of key operational tasks to keep the organization running smoothly and efficiently, while also contributing to continuous improvement of our program management processes.
This position is ideal for a self‑driven individual with strong attention to detail and the ability to execute multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast paced environment.
This is an on-site role at our headquarters in Burlington, Vermont.

Measurements of Success/Primary Job Responsibilities:
At its core, Benchmark is an entrepreneurial, fast paced organization. With that said, there are primary job responsibilities and measurements of success for this position, which are:
Procurement & Supply Chain Support
- Generate and issue purchase orders (POs) in accordance with procurement procedures.
- Respond to purchase requisitions (PRs) in a timely manner and communicate with internal requestors as needed.
- Track open orders and coordinate with suppliers when necessary.
Inventory & Materials Management
- Maintain accurate inventory through routine cycle counts and location audits.
- Support general inventory upkeep, organization, and labeling.
- Restock operational materials and supplies to ensure uninterrupted team workflows.
- Perform general receiving for inventory items and route them appropriately.
General Operations & Facilities Support
- Support day‑to‑day facilities upkeep, including organizing common areas, restocking supplies, and coordinating minor facilities tasks.
- Assist with operations materials, office supply management, and internal distribution of resources.
- Coordinate with Facilities and Operations teams to maintain a clean, efficient, and safe workplace environment.
Quality & Documentation Support
- Open inbound part boxes, verify contents, and log materials into MRP with accurate data entry.
- Perform QA receiving activities in MRP for simple COTS (commercial off‑the‑shelf) parts.
- Scan, upload, and organize receiving paperwork and quality documentation.
- Support the creation and formatting of EIDPs (End Item Data Packages) by gathering, validating, and organizing required data.
Production & Manufacturing Support
- Process and closing manufacturing orders (MOs).
- Routing parts from outgoing receiving shelves into proper inventory locations.
- Support production floor workflows by preparing kits and materials.
- Assist in maintaining clear, accurate, and standardized production documentation formats.
Secondary Responsibilities Include:
- Support Program Managers with developing and managing program schedules, resource plans, material procurement plans, risk analyses, and budgets.
- At times, actively manage detailed production schedules working in coordination with the Operations and Supply Chain teams.
- Assisting with program reporting to include preparation of monthly program updates and reforecasts of labor and material spend plans.
- Regularly communicate program status with program managers and team leads.
- Support preparations for customer visits and meetings.
- Support with the continuous improvement of program and project management processes and tools, including the development of process documentation and training materials.
- At all times, maintain Benchmark’s outstanding reputation for operating at the highest levels of honesty, integrity, accountability, and transparency.
Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2–4 years of experience in operations, manufacturing, supply chain, logistics, or a similar hands‑on operational role.
- Experience working with an MRP/ERP system.
- Prior experience in a fast paced environment where multitasking and independent decision‑making were essential.
- U.S. Person required.

- Skilled at maintaining clean, orderly, and well‑documented workspaces and inventory areas.
What makes you stand out:
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business administration, Operations Management, Supply Chain, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- Experience supporting multiple operational functions (production, quality, supply chain, logistics, facilities).
- Hands‑on success improving processes, organizing work areas, or establishing new workflows.
- Prior experience in aerospace, hardware development, robotics, manufacturing, or another complex, highly regulated industry.
- Strong customer service orientation and ability to represent the company professionally during customer visits or program interactions.
- Demonstrated comfort wearing many hats and stepping in wherever needed to help the team succeed.
- A mindset that combines precision, accountability, curiosity, and resourcefulness—critical traits for success in a small but rapidly growing aerospace company.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
- Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs. occasionally (e.g., boxes, components, facility supplies).
- Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, reach, and kneel while performing inventory, receiving, and production support tasks.
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer or completing documentation work.
