The Mechanical Engineer will design and guide the development of Doors & Transparencies for BETA’s CX300 and A250. This engineer will leverage experience and engineering best practices to design and certify composite door structures and latching systems that support occupant ingress/egress and cargo loading by ground crews. Their skills and experiences will shape design decisions from early-stage concepts through production, sustainment and field maintenance. They will also support certification by ensuring verification strategies are well-aligned with Beta’s methods of compliance, and by working in conjunction with Test Engineers to draft and execute test plans.
The ideal candidate is highly collaborative, detail-oriented, and focused. This role will primarily collaborate with Design, Stress, Manufacturing, and Quality teams during development, as well as Systems, Safety, Program Management and Certification.
How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:
Develop and maintain 2D & 3D datasets in a controlled PLM environment using Catia V6.
Design products for certification based on requirements and accepted means of compliance.
Develop and build prototypes and run experiments to support design concept development.
Create documentation for certification such as qualification, functional, and Inspection test plans.
Track and report design and deliverable status to maintain company program awareness.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to minimize cost and improve product manufacturability.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum 10 years of experience design in mechanical systems.
Demonstrated experience developing composite structures on FAA certification programs.
Proficiency of 3D CAD software (Catia V6 preferred).
Use of FEA and hand-calculations to support and inform concept development.
Communication and leadership skills.
