The Instrumentation Technician is responsible for helping us install and maintain supplemental instrumentation on a variety of company assets. As a Instrumentation Technician on the Instrumentation team at Beta Technologies, you will use your hands-on technical aptitude to plan, execute, clean up, and document a variety of instrumentation on anything from discrete structural elements to flight test aircraft. Instrumentation hardware spans a variety of areas, such as structural validation strain gages, vibration fatigue strain gages, and thermal monitoring of High Voltage components. Instrumentation Technician duties include not just the setup and testing of aircraft assemblies or components, but also the routine maintenance and troubleshooting of test equipment and sensors. An ideal candidate has great attention to detail when following a defined work plan, but also a good dose of creativity when working with the team on how to execute new and interesting instrumentation packages and the drive and motivation to see things through to completion no matter the challenge.

How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:

  • Assist Instrumentation Engineers with installing supplemental instrumentation on a variety of components
  • Maintain instrumentation installation records and relevant documentation to support current and future efforts
  • Contribute to and carefully follow installation procedures and plans, ensuring completeness and accuracy every step of the way.
  • Help manage instrumentation equipment and consumable inventory to ensure the team can adapt to changing priorities and have the tools required to be successful
  • Look out for your teammates and maintain a safe, positive and efficient work environment
  • Use all mandated safety equipment and comply with all safety requirements in accordance with company and government regulations and guidelines
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two-year engineering degree or certificate from an accredited two (2) year college, university, or technical school or minimum 2 years work experience in a related technical field
  • Passionate about continuous improvement and driven to continually learn, develop, and adapt
  • Ability to assist in problem analysis and independent decision-making
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools
  • Ability to solder
  • Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and schematics of electronic components
  • Good team communication skills required
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Applications share point, outlook, word, excel, PowerPoint ; Slack, application lifecycle

Above and Beyond Qualifications:

  • Computer Aided Design (CAD) experience
  • Electrical enclosure fabrication experience
  • Small circuit assembly experience
  • Aerospace design verification experience, especially compliance test experience

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Ability to ascend and descend ladders and/or stairs
  • Ability to position self for inspection including confined, elevated and loud noise spaces
  • Ability to position self to move and/or transfer materials, equipment and/or supplies
  • Ability to use tools, equipment, and technology necessary to do the job. This includes dexterity in instrument manipulation
  • Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and may involve long portions of time on feet
