This is an exciting moment as the college launches a new academic model. For the Department of Psychology, this includes a redesigned Bachelor of Science and a new Bachelor of Arts degree. The successful candidate will be a key contributor in shaping the growth and development of these programs.
We're looking for expertise in areas such as Cognition, Perception, Organizational, Judgment and Decision-Making, Creativity and Play, or Cultural and Global Psychology. The ideal candidate brings a combination of teaching and publishing in one or more of these areas.

Key Responsibilities:
Teaching & Curriculum Development
- Deliver four 3-credit courses per semester through traditional instruction, experiential learning opportunities, and supervised student projects
- Contribute to the design and development of curriculum for our new BS and BA psychology programs
- Integrate real-world applications and professional practice into course content
- Develop innovative approaches that connect psychological theory to diverse career pathways
Student Mentorship & Development
- Provide academic advising to undergraduate students
- Foster an inclusive learning environment that supports diverse learning styles and student populations
Professional Engagement & Service
- Maintain expertise through ongoing scholarship and creative work in alignment with the Champlain College Faculty Handbook
- Serve on college committees and collaborate with faculty across disciplines
Requirements:
- Doctoral degree in psychology (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) preferred, however professionally licensed candidates with a master’s degree are encouraged to apply
- Evidence of effective teaching (e.g., teaching evaluations, sample syllabi)
- Demonstrated experience in working with diverse student populations
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective student mentoring
- Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues related to curricular initiatives, teaching responsibilities and student support
- A philosophy of education consistent with Champlain’s programs and mission.
Working Arrangements:
- Full-time, in-person position based at our main campus in Burlington, Vermont
- Comfortable office environment with access to campus resources
- Occasional evening or weekend commitments for special events or student activities
- Participation in faculty meetings, professional development, and academic ceremonies
Compensation & Benefits
- Annual Salary: $62,000 - $70,000
