Programmer
Ivy Computer, Inc.
Ivy Computer continues to be recognized as one of the fastest-growing technology companies in Vermont, and we know that great programmers are a big part of what keeps us moving forward. We’re always excited to connect with talented individuals who are passionate about software development and interested in setting down roots in Central Vermont.
We may not have an immediate spot open, but the right candidate could help us grow even faster. Whether you are newer to programming or you already have several years of experience, we’d love to hear from you.
Programmers are expected to be able to fix bugs or add features to a product largely on their own. These features can require a wide array of knowledge, from socket communication to querying information from a database. Each new project is meant to stretch your skills and help you grow from where you are to where you can be.
But, you won’t be doing this alone. Our multi-tiered mentoring program matches less experienced programmers up with more experienced programmers, so a vast well of experience is at your service to aid in your work. You will be expected to ask questions, up to and past the point where you can answer them.
When scheduling internships, they are for an agreed-upon timeframe that usually runs 2-4 months long. During the internship, we will teach you the way that Ivy programs and gives you a chance to show your potential. Interns who demonstrate the skills, strengths, and abilities we are looking for will be offered a full-time position at Ivy.
Qualifications:
- An excellent foundational knowledge of programming, attained practically or academically, demonstrated by:
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages (I.e., VB6, PHP, or Java).
- A strong understanding of the fundamentals of programming, such as loops and functions, algorithms, and data structures.
- An understanding of basic computer architecture, networking, and security concepts.
- Most of all, you must work and play well with others.
