Senior System Administrator
Are you a technology enthusiast looking for an exciting new challenge? Ivy Computer is seeking a qualified, detail-oriented professional for the role of Senior System Administrator. We're looking for someone to manage our server clusters and keep services running for both technical and non-tech users. A major upcoming challenge is the move to Active Directory, SambaBox or alternative.
In this role, you will be part of a team responsible for ensuring the uptime of Ivy’s computers, servers, customer-facing applications, and internet -- basically "keeping the lights on" to limit disruptions. This includes system maintenance and configuration such as installing and troubleshooting hardware and software, performing daily checks of all infrastructure, completing upgrades, automating alerts and logs, ensuring our data is backed up, recovering data when needed, and auditing and addressing cyber security gaps.
You are:
- Ready to learn and grow, willing to help others learn and grow, and able to challenge the team to always be better.
- Highly proficient in Linux and Windows Operating Systems with a proven track record of the following:
- ProxMox or equivalent hypervisors
- Advanced Network Infrastructure Management (Segmentation, VLANS) including firewall deployment and management, layer 3 switch configuration/management
- Active Directory implementation and administration,
- NFS, Self-hosted DNS and self-hosted email server management (Postfix/Dovecot)
- MariaDB database management, preferred but not mandatory
- Experienced seeing large, intricate projects through to their completion.
- Able to demonstrate a proven history of maintaining and administering a complex network environment.
- Highly organized, with great attention to detail.
- Excellent at recognizing and identifying current and potential future problems, researching options, and working together with a team to implement effective solutions.
- Interested in finding ways to automate repetitive tasks to make processes more efficient.
- Most of all, you must work and play well with others.
Location & Hours
This position is based in Waterbury Center, Vermont. Employees work in the office Monday through Thursday, when possible, Friday can be optional to work from home.
Pay Range
$100,000-$140,000, depending on experience.
