Summary
The position assists with the daily supervision and management of enterprise security operations. This includes implementation and oversight of physical security procedures for all National Life locations, as well as for conferences attended by National Life Executives. The position will also assist the Enterprise Head of Security with coordination of security functions as part of emergency preparedness activities within the construct of the overall Corporate Business Continuity Program. The position reports to the Enterprise Head of Security, and ultimately to the AVP of Facilities & Security.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assists with supervision and management of the daily activities of physical security operations to include internal security staff.
- Develops, supports and assists with enforcement of security related policies and procedures.
- Assesses, develops and implements security plans and programs. Ensures all plans and programs are compliant with mandated codes and regulations as well as company guidelines.
- Acts as a contact for all vendor agreements, relationships, and personnel related to physical security.
- May conduct incident investigations including reviewing documentation and interviewing witnesses.
- Acts as a resource to internal and external customers with requests relating to physical security.
- Leads training sessions and provides reports to leadership.
- Involved in development of emergency preparedness plans (EPP) relating to security.
- Takes part in the planning and execution of corporate Business continuity planning and emergency preparedness exercises.
- Assists with management and enforcement of the parking program for Vermont campus locations to ensure that parking requirements are being fulfilled.
- Oversight of the Corporate Chauffeur program, and direct supervision of the program administrator.
Job Requirements
- Five years supervisory experience.
- Three years of contract or corporate physical security management experience and knowledge and/or 10 plus years in law enforcement and emergency management experience.
- Experience with development, implementation, and maintenance of security, EPP and BCP programs within a corporate environment on a domestic/global scope.
- Experience with incident response and investigations.
- Experience in law enforcement and/or working with law enforcement, security personnel and related vendor management.
- Experience in fire and / or emergency medical service (EMT) preferred.
- Must be able to work with all levels within the organization to resolve a wide scope of Security, EPP and BCP issues.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to make decisions independently.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously.
- Ability to resolve complex problems positively and professionally.
- Working knowledge of all aspects of physical security to include safety, industry standards, and asset protection.
- Working knowledge of security electronics and technology.
- Intermediate Windows, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills.
- Strong skills in research, installation, and maintenance of security electronic equipment and all related hardware and software, to include CCTV, access card systems, photo ID systems, and alarm monitoring systems.
- Ability to support and lead projects related to security and life safety requirements.
- Strong knowledge of emergency preparedness plans, procedures, and response.
- Relevant experience in BCP planning and execution.
- Very strong project management experience.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Ability to travel 4-6 weeks per year.
