Role Summary

This position is part of the Life & Annuity Solutions team, focused on designing and managing innovative life and annuity products that enhance customer experience and support business growth. The role blends actuarial and business analyst responsibilities, working across illustration, policy administration, and ancillary systems to resolve complex issues using analytical and problem-solving techniques. This position currently offers an onsite work schedule, with the expectation that you are in the office four (4) days per week during onsite core days. Our current onsite core days are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The work schedule type and core days are subject to change with advance notification and manager discretion.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in identifying areas of the systems requiring modifications to support new product designs and functionality.
  • Write business requirements for needed modifications to systems, if applicable.
  • Continue deepening understanding of NLG’s life and annuity products, their benefit structures and calculations, and the systems on which they are illustrated and administered.
  • Develop and refine test strategies, plan for values validation, and coordinate tasks associated with creating or modifying admin or illustrations systems, following established protocols, with an eye toward adapting approaches.
  • Independently modify and create test tools to validate product rates and values on impacted systems.
  • Create and maintain tools and applications required for the accurate implementation, administration, and support of life and annuity products. Deploy such tools for use by other business units as appropriate.
  • Help guide the efforts of Associate Actuarial Systems Analysts, including training.
  • Work to build and/or strengthen cross-functional partnerships with other business units and teams throughout the organization.
  • Develops and maintains system-based rule configurations to accurately reflect product features in administrative and illustration environments.
  • Ad hoc product and policy analysis as required to ensure National Life Group is correctly administering all life and annuity contract.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years experience in systems or systems support role in financial services industry
  • Basic understanding of life and annuity product mechanics
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Builds effective relationships.
  • Strong math, analysis and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of MS Office suite of applications including very strong Excel skills.
  • Highly organized, proactive, solutions-oriented, and a creative problem solver with leadership capabilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Finance or related field.
  • Experience with a wide range of life insurance and annuity products with a demonstrated understanding of product mechanics and calculations, including development of UL, IUL, whole life cash value and death benefit calculations, definition of life insurance and modified endowment calculations, interest theory, and other related actuarial product benefit calculations.
  • Familiarity with administration or illustration systems for life insurance and/or annuity products.

Base Pay Range. The base pay range for this position is the range National Life reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors, including: prior experience and job-related knowledge; education, training and certificates; current business needs; and market factors. The final salary or hourly wages offered may be outside of this range based on other reasons and individual circumstances.

Additional Compensation and Benefits. The total compensation package for this position may also include a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in National Life’s discretionary annual incentive programs, subject to the rules governing such programs. If hired, the employee will be in an "at-will position" and National Life reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
