JOB OVERVIEW

NOMAD builds the world's first fully commercialized line of grid-scale mobile battery energy storage systems: trailer-mounted units that deploy in under an hour with no permits and no civil works, and that power utilities, data centers, EV charging, oil & gas sites, ski resorts, rental fleets, and hybrid systems paired with gensets and renewables. The Mechanical Engineer reports to the NOMAD Mechanical Engineering Manager and joins the design team that delivers these products, responsible for the mechanical systems that carry megawatt-hours of batteries, power electronics, and thermal management safely down the highway and keep them running in the field. You will take designs from concept through drawings, bills of materials, and engineering calculations, working closely with electrical and controls engineers, manufacturing partners, vendors, and customers. Work is primarily based in the Waterbury, Vermont office, with travel to customer and vendor sites during system construction and integration. NOMAD offers a competitive salary with performance-based incentives, comprehensive health benefits, retirement savings plan matching, and professional development opportunities.

The following skills, experience, and credentials are what we think are necessary to succeed in this position. If you possess many but not all of these, you are encouraged to apply anyway because you may possess additional skills and experience that could provide value to NOMAD and our customers in ways we have not imagined.

  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, and work with customers, vendors, and contractors.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation to track project development and the design process.
  • Work within the given project timeline and scope while minimizing design costs to keep projects within budget.
