The Role

The Executive Strategic Security Advisor is an executive-level cybersecurity consultant responsible for bridging strategic vision, technical solution architecture, and service execution across security programs in support of executive-level client leaders. This role requires a unique combination of strategic insight, technical security expertise, and strong client relationship management to define and execute cybersecurity programs aligned to client business priorities. The Advisor works closely with CISOs, vCISOs, and key stakeholders to ensure clients realize the full value of their security investments by reviewing, designing, and guiding the implementation of technical security capabilities that reduce risk and improve operational maturity. They are also a key resource to ensure effective delivery of NuHarbor’s services and solutions, and to identify opportunities for additional client value-add.

What you’ll do

  • Act as a senior advisor to CISOs, vCISOs, and executive leadership, guiding the development and execution of cybersecurity strategies aligned to business goals.
  • Provide expert, strategic recommendations on security solutions across key security domains, ensuring alignment with the client’s technical environment, risk posture, and business objectives.
  • Translate strategic objectives into actionable security roadmaps and oversee implementation in partnership with client, NuHarbor, and third-party security and IT teams.
  • Monitor client cybersecurity posture, ensuring service delivery aligns with contractual scope and identifying opportunities to expand value.
  • Stay current on cybersecurity trends, technologies, and frameworks to ensure relevant, forward-looking guidance.
  • Work with NuHarbor leadership and account management teams to proactively identify client or service risks and ensure client satisfaction.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to consistent, high-quality client engagement delivery.

Your foundation. The requirements for this role:

  • Ten (10) years or more experience in cybersecurity management with a proven record of accomplishment in a variety of domains such as endpoint protection, intrusion detection, application security, and secure networking.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience demonstrated strong leadership, collaboration, and team-building skills, with proven experience in mentoring and developing more junior cybersecurity professionals.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating complex cybersecurity concepts to various audiences, including technical teams and senior management.
  • Prior experience advising executive stakeholders, including CISOs, CIOs, and Boards, on cybersecurity strategy, risk, and program development.
  • Proven ability to assess complex security environments and develop comprehensive cybersecurity program roadmaps that translate strategic vision into prioritized, actionable initiatives aligned with business objectives and operational capacity.
  • Deep expertise in interpreting and advising on regulatory and compliance security frameworks, with the ability to assess applicability across diverse industries and translate requirements into actionable, risk-aligned security strategies.
  • Must be a citizen of the United States.

Additional capabilities that will differentiate you for this role:

  • Advanced degree in Business Administration or cybersecurity related field of study.
  • Professional cybersecurity certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, GIAC).
  • Experience in the public and private business sectors.
  • Prior experience working in or with professional services or consulting
  • Prior experience serving as a virtual or interim Chief Information Security Officer (vCISO), with a proven track record of leading enterprise cybersecurity programs and advising executive stakeholders

Base Salary for this role is targeted at $175,000 - $190,000 annually. *Salary based on Burlington, VT salary data. Offer is based on candidate geography. Additionally, this role is eligible for the company bonus plan at a 10% target.
