Operations Manager

Position Summary

The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day field operations of the roofing division. This role ensures projects are scheduled efficiently, crews are properly assigned, materials are ordered and delivered on time, and projects are completed safely, on schedule, and to company quality standards. The Operations Manager serves as the primary link between the office, field crews, suppliers, and project management to ensure smooth project execution and exceptional customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Schedule all roofing projects and coordinate daily production calendars.
  • Assign and direct roofing crews based on project requirements, weather conditions, and workforce availability.
  • Monitor project progress to ensure jobs remain on schedule and within budget.
  • Order roofing materials, equipment, and supplies while coordinating deliveries with suppliers and job sites.
  • Verify material quantities and ensure all necessary materials are available before project start dates.
  • Coordinate with sales and project management to facilitate smooth project handoffs.
  • Conduct pre-construction planning with foremen to review project scope, specifications, and timelines.
  • Provide daily support and direction to field supervisors and subcontractor crews.
  • Address scheduling conflicts, production delays, and field issues promptly.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and industry best practices.
  • Perform site visits to monitor workmanship, productivity, and quality control.
  • Communicate with homeowners, commercial clients, and vendors regarding scheduling and project updates as needed.
  • Maintain accurate production schedules, material orders, and job documentation.
  • Review completed projects for quality assurance and coordinate punch list items when necessary.
  • Assist with workforce planning during peak production periods.
  • Work closely with accounting regarding purchase orders, vendor invoices, and material reconciliation.
  • Continuously evaluate operational processes and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and profitability.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in roofing, construction operations, or project management preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of residential and commercial roofing systems.
  • Experience scheduling multiple crews and managing simultaneous projects.
  • Familiarity with roofing materials, suppliers, and ordering processes.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with Google and construction management software (such as AccuLynx, Procore, Buildertrend, or similar).
  • Valid driver's license with reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing subcontractor crews.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of estimating and change order processes is preferred.
