The Breakdown:
The Materials Developer I- Trims will be the expert for all Burton Softgoods and Bags trim materials. In alignment with our business and purpose goals, they will develop and maintain an applied trim portfolio to support our creative design team. Aligned to Burton’s creative design strategy, they will develop relationships with suppliers and ultimately ensure the delivery of quality products in compliance with Burton’s timelines, quality, sustainability, and functionality standards.


What You Get to Do:
• Responsible for managing the seasonal development of our trim portfolio across our Softgoods and Bags collections to ensure materials meet collection timelines.
• Vet artwork for feasibility and provide feedback to Design.
• Responsible for managing and organizing our digital and physical trims library, and supporting the organization of our textile materials library.
• Responsible for managing and developing trims that fit the requirements of our Sustainability initiatives, such as Bluesign, Clean Chemistry, Recycled, and Consolidation.
• Responsible for establishing data management processes for all trims through high-level PLM data creation and consistent updates, supporting the same for all other materials.
• Responsible for providing training to cross-functional partners on our trim development processes and PLM data management.
• Responsible for building color matching files, from our color system standards to all supplier color cards, to ensure color consistency across seasonal collections.
• Responsible for ensuring that quality standards are met during the development stage, supporting the same for all other materials.
• Responsible for tracking trim testing reports and assessing risk, communicating failures, and offering solutions for substitute trims, and maintaining accurate materials testing data in PLM, supporting the same for all other materials.
• Works to negotiate costing with suppliers to achieve target pricing, suggesting alternatives when relevant.
• Consulted with our global material sourcing operations team on the onboarding process of new suppliers and supported the upkeep of current suppliers.


What You'll Bring to The Team:
• Relevant education, training, or experience in Textiles, Textile Engineering, Textile Manufacturing, Apparel and Trim Development, with a minimum of 2-3 years, is required.
• Color and testing experience. Completion of the Munsell 100 Hue test, a plus.
• Proficient skills in MS Office and Adobe Suite Programs, and a working knowledge of Centric PLM or similar database systems is preferred.
• Aptitude for systems and systematic work

The hiring range for this role is $55,000-$61,000, depending on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, and available budget. Please note that the range details above reflect the base pay only and do not include any potential bonus and other benefits that we offer.
