Systems Administrator

The Breakdown:
We are seeking an experienced Systems Administrator to assist in the management and maintenance of our hybrid IT infrastructure, including on-premises Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Windows Server environments, network infrastructure, and Office 365 services. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in Microsoft technologies and experience managing hybrid cloud environments.
What You’ll Get to Do:
Active Directory & Identity Management
- Administer and maintain on-premises Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) including domain controllers, group policies, and organizational units
- Manage Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) tenant including user provisioning, group management, and conditional access policies
- Configure and maintain Azure AD Connect for seamless hybrid identity synchronization
- Implement and manage single sign-on (SSO) solutions and multi-factor authentication (MFA)
- Troubleshoot authentication and authorization issues across hybrid environments
- Manage certificate services and implement secure authentication protocols
Windows Server Administration
- Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server environments (2016, 2019, 2022)
- Manage server roles including DNS, DHCP, file services, print services, and IIS
- Perform regular system updates, patches, and security configurations
- Monitor server performance, disk space, and system health
- Implement backup and disaster recovery solutions
- Manage virtualized environments using Hyper-V or VMware
- Configure and maintain failover clustering and high availability solutions
Network Administration
- Configure and maintain network infrastructure including switches, routers, and firewalls
- Manage VPN solutions for remote access and site-to-site connectivity
- Implement and maintain network security policies and access controls
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues
- Manage VLAN configuration and network segmentation
- Oversee wireless network infrastructure and security
Office 365 Administration
- Administer Office 365 tenant including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and Teams
- Manage user licensing, mailbox configurations, and distribution groups
- Configure and maintain Exchange Online protection and security policies
- Implement data loss prevention (DLP) and compliance policies
- Manage SharePoint site collections, permissions, and content management
- Support Microsoft Teams deployment and administration
- Monitor service health and manage Office 365 security center
General IT Operations
- Act as an escalation point for technical support and troubleshooting for end users
- Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides
- Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support
- Collaborate with vendors and third-party service providers
- Assist with IT project planning and implementation
- Ensure compliance with security policies and regulatory requirements
What You’ll Bring to the Team:
Technical Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 3+ years of experience in systems administration with Microsoft technologies
- Strong expertise in Active Directory Domain Services and Group Policy management
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) and Azure AD Connect
- Proficiency in Windows Server administration (2016/2019/2022)
- Experience with Office 365 administration including Exchange Online and SharePoint
- Knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN)
- Experience with PowerShell scripting for automation and administration
- Understanding of virtualization technologies (Hyper-V, VMware)
- Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery solutions

The hiring range for this role is $80,000-$100,000, depending on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, and available budget. Please note that the range details above reflect the base pay only and does not include any potential bonus and other benefits that we offer. This is an on-site role, based in Burlington, VT. We will offer relocation assistance to move to Vermont to any candidate who is hired.
