The Middlebury Portuguese Language School is pleased to announce a temporary Instructor of Portuguese position, available during the summer 2026 session (June 22 - August 15), located on the Bennington College campus in Vermont. Our unique 7-week program blends cultural immersion, intensive daily classroom sessions, and engaging co-curricular activities. As an instructor, you'll have the opportunity to actively participate in teaching, engage in enriching co-curricular activities, share delicious meals, and reside on campus with our dynamic students. This is a complete immersion experience in Portuguese, fostering an environment of language learning and cultural exchange. In addition to the salary, lodging and a complete meal plan will be provided.

Core Responsibilities:
We are looking for a faculty member with:
- Experience teaching Portuguese as a foreign language in the U.S. (preferably)
- Experience teaching Portuguese language and cultures at the beginning, intermediate and advanced levels
The successful candidate should possess:
- A PhD (ABD candidates will also be considered)
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated success working as a member of an instructional team

Preferred qualifications for this role include:
- Prior experience teaching Portuguese as a second language in the U.S.
- Experience in teaching Portuguese from a pluricentric approach.
- Ability to teach interdisciplinary courses, encompassing subjects such as music, poetry, arts, politics, history, and business.
- A plus if you possess a talent for organizing extracurricular activities.
