This role plays a critical part in fostering a positive, inclusive, and competitive team culture while ensuring adherence to safety standards and organizational policies.
This is a full-time, benefits eligible, hourly position with a hiring range of $X - $X per hour.
Core Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Head Coach and student leadership to support the overall mission and operations of the club, including team communication and decision-making.
- Assist the Head Coach in conducting on-water and land-based practices that align with the team’s training goals and competitive calendar.
- Assist in coordinating regatta entries, travel logistics, and equipment transportation to ensure smooth and organized race-day operations.
- Provide individual and group coaching focused on technical skill improvement, endurance, strength, and teamwork to support athlete growth and safety.
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and team-oriented environment, reinforcing sportsmanship, accountability, and respect among all team members.
- Act as a mentor and role model for student-athletes, encouraging academic balance, leadership development, and long-term participation in the sport.
- Help oversee the care, storage, and maintenance of boats, oars, and related equipment, promptly reporting any issues or damage.
- Significant rowing experience required. Sculling background a plus.
- Coaching experience preferred.
- Any/All certifications (or ability to obtain) required in alignment with risk mitigation strategies set forward through Club Sports and specific to Crew.
- Commitment to student development through sportsmanship, teamwork, and camaraderie.
- Strong Leadership and Motivational skills.
- Ability to work cooperatively with other coaches, administrators, and students.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
Flexible schedule and available to work nights and weekends as needed in season. Coaching rowing is a physically demanding activity, requiring lifting of heavy objects, work in extreme weather conditions, and in and around water.
