The Prep Cook & Utility Worker supports kitchen operations by preparing ingredients, maintaining cleanliness, and assisting with dish washing. This role ensures the kitchen is ready for service and adheres to all sanitation and safety standards.
This is considered a part-time, hourly, non-benefits eligible position. The minimum starting rate for the position is $16.94 per hour.
Core Responsibilities:
- Wash, peel, chop, and prepare fruits, vegetables, and other ingredients for service.
- Prepare simple menu items such as sandwiches, wraps, and salads.
- Maintain a clean, organized workstation and follow all safety, sanitation, and compliance standards.
- Load and unload dish machines, and properly store clean dishes, pots, and pans.
- Stock supplies and ingredients for upcoming shifts.
- Sweep, mop, and clean kitchen, dish room, walk‑ins, and waste areas.
- Dispose of trash and recycling and rinse containers as needed.
- Collaborate with servers, hosts, and kitchen staff for smooth operations.
- No previous kitchen experience required; prior food service experience preferred.
- Strong attention to cleanliness, food safety, and teamwork.
- Willingness to learn and a positive attitude.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Must physically be able to lift 10-20 lbs. numerous times during the day. Up to 50 lbs. several times per day and must be able to push or pull a cart up to 70 lbs. frequently.
- Repetitive use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling and fine manipulation.
- Requires frequent walking and long periods of time standing.
- Must be able to work in a hot and humid environment.
