The Oratory Now Associate at Middlebury College is charged with providing operational, administrative, and technical support for the implementation of Oratory Now programs and outreach efforts, including events, workshops, and the training and management of peer speaking coaches. The Associate will also be responsible for communicating to internal and external audiences through writing, speaking, video, and managing the website and social media.

This is a full-time, benefits eligible, hourly position with a hiring wage of $20.52 per hour. This position is gift funded, with a start date of August 31, 2026 and an end date of July 30, 2027.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support for workshops, peer tutoring services, credit-bearing courses, and speaking events.
  • Co-facilitate training sessions to provide relevant knowledge, skills and experience to new and returning oratory coaches.
  • Coordinate with Associate Director to conduct internal communications linking students, faculty, and staff, and external communications with parents, alumni, and Middlebury community members.
  • Publicize the organization, its services, and events, through digital and print media. Maintain and update website and social media platforms. Produce videos and photographs as needed.
  • Coordinate special events, workshops and residencies with alumni and other visitors to campus.
  • Support the planning and implementation of annual budgets that reflect program needs.
  • Conduct research on best practices for the teaching of oratory and assist in the development of new training pedagogy.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Exceptional writing and speaking skills.
  • Highly motivated, goal-oriented, and creative.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in collaboration to set priorities, solve problems, and plan strategically.
  • Excellent social media and software skills, ability to learn new platforms as needed.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Capacity to support and foster program growth.
  • Experience peer tutoring, coaching, or teaching is required, ideally in speaking and/or writing; experience in collaboration and team-building highly preferred.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

Occasional long periods of standing. Moving furniture and equipment before and after live events.
